He turned to face her and reached out. "I have actually been studying about the mind.. I may be able to help. May I?" he asked her, looking straight into her eyes.

He smiled as he put his hands on the sides of her head. "Good! If I do hurt ye however, I give ye the permission to hit me." He closed his eyes after he said this and his mouth turned into a hard straight line. His hands began to move on the sides of her head, as if straightening something out and he began muttering to himself. Then his hands started to move as if smoothing that something out and he began to mutter less. Finally, he pulled away and open his eyes. "Any better?" he asked hopefully.

"Well, I looked into yon mind and found the source of the migraine. It was all bunched up so I straightened it out and smoothed it so it had no ripples in it." he said, demonstrating with his hands.

He paled as he looked at her and then switched his gaze back to the fire. "I try to be. But sometimes it does not work."

He nodded and continued to gaze at the fire. The paleness of his cheeks eventually faded.

she looked up at him and saw his cheeks before they turned back to normal and her cheeks darkened and she looked down.

He looked to the mouth of the cave. It was still raining. "I wonder how much longer it will rain." he said softly, almost as if to himself.
